Took loads of pictures and
wouldn't normally put up so may but many people at the parade asked where
they could see the pictures |I was taking thought under the circumstances
I'd put them all up so here they are...
Creston is around 1.5 hours
drive from Kimberley and is known as a market town where you can purchase
apples, apricots, cherries, peaches, pears, hazlenuts, walnuts, and just
about every vegetable you care to mention. The climate is really excellent
and there are loads of small orchards all over the place. But to the
parade....
This is the start of my wandering down the
gathering area where the Parade was getting setup and organised.
This gave me the opportunity to get some close ups.

As you can see it was a very
dull day and looked like rain but in fact the rain did hold off

Creston is where the Kokanee Brewery is based
which is probably the most popular local ale. I have been enjoying
their Kokanee Mountain Ale which is a bit like a 70/- ale back home.
The Trail Pipe
Band
And I came across the Trail Pipe Band and one
Murray McKenzie promised to send in a little information on the history of
the band and when I got back they had arrived and so many thanks Murray!
The Trail Pipe Band is
one of the oldest continuously operating pipe bands in the interior of
B.C. Organized pipers were recorded at the opening of the Columbia River
bridge in Trail as early as 1912. The band has been active ever since in
various forms. Since the end of the second world war the band has
entertained people in the Kootenays and northwestern United States. More
recent highlights of the bands history include;
Two appearances at Expo 74 in Spokane Wa.
Five days of appearances at Expo 86 in
Vancouver B.C.

The band currently
consists of 10 pipers, five side drummers.a bass and a tenor drum. The
band is under the direction of P/M Murray McKenzie and D/S Ted Wallace.
