Correspondance of an Emigrant
Letter, March 15th 1875

Dear Uncle,
I now write to inform you that we are all well with the exception of William, John, Peter and Elizabeth who has the mumps. Hoping this will find you enjoying better health than you had when we heard from you last. We wrote to you about a year ago and enclosed all our photographs but one and never received any answer whether you got them or not. We have had a very hard winter since New Year. We have not seen it so hard for over thirty three years and mostly every week the railroads has been blocked up in every direction. We are enjying the luxury of a thaw for it rained, thundered and lightened last night, and it has been rained mostly all day which maes the roads impassable here for the snow is four or five feet deep on the roads where it has drifted. We received a paper from you last week. Please tell Elizabeth and Mrs Morton to send their photographs. We sent one paper last week and one with this letter now. We were over visiting James Brown's widow last week and she was not very well but she is well now and getting on very well. We heard that Mrs Maitland is not very well. I see my brother Robert last week and he said that mother is still going about. Please write soon and let us know how you are getting on. No more at present but remain your nephew truly,
Mr John Good.
