Scotland
Clan Fraser Museum

I was able to visit the Clan Fraser at Beauly which is just a 15 minute drive from Inverness.  If you have been reading my various travel journals over the past year you may remember I tried to visit this on 1st October 2003 only to find it had closed on 30th September 2003.  Well at least this time it was open so I at last got a chance to visit it.  I might add that a new manager has been appointed and he was telling me that it will close during November for refurbishment and it's his intention to open it all year round and also to open later in the evening as well.  So all of this is a big step forward :-)

I did arrive a little early as the museum didn't open until 10.00am so here are a couple of pictures from above the town

As well as being the Clan Fraser museum it is also the local information centre for you can see lots of other exibits while you are here.

An exhibit about MacKenzie who discovered much of Canada

And now we enter the Clan Fraser Room

Interesting information on the Ship Hector which I took a photograph off while in Nova Scotia towards the end of my Canadian trip

They do have lots of other Fraser information so do ask them if you visit and you'll find them most helpful

You can purchase this list of famous Frasers and on the right is the new manager

Should you wish to really check out the Clan do have a talk with the manager as he knows all kinds of wee details which I'l sure you'd like to follow up and visit.  For example he can show you where the clan used to go to get arrows some of which were used at Culloden.
