Scotland
Marriage of Yuka Obara and Peter James Scott

I got back to my cottage on the Saturday to find that there was to be a wedding at the local kirk as the bus had just arrived to drop of the wedding guests and there were beautiful kimono's and chaps in kilts so obviously a wedding between Japan and Scotland in the old kirk at St. Monans.  I thought I would take some photographs of the happy occasion just to show how the old kirk is still used by the people in the area and also those from near and far.  In the event any of the wedding guests see these photographs I'd be more than happy if they identified the photos and supplied names to go with them. As it was a Scot, Thomas Blake Glover, who is considered to be one of the founding fathers of modern Japan, it is good to see ties between the two countires continuing :-)

The Piper was part of the family and the picture on the left shows the groom center and I presume best men on either side but don't actually know who they were.

The bride arrives

While it was nice and sunny by this time there was a fair wind as you can see

These were just some pictures while waiting for the wedding ceremony to end as I wasn't invited

And here was the Piper (his mum is Moyra Rushworth) indicating that the wedding ceromony was due to finish

I'm told the minister was able to conduct the ceremony in both English and Japanese. The Piper seranaded the wedding guests as they departed from the back door of the church.

And here are the happy couple :-)

And now I thought I would just take a bunch of pictures of the guests and family members

Ah!  Seems to be a wee problem with the Kimono!

And the picture on the right show how cold and windy it was as the poor wee lass tries to shelter from the wind

Ah! There is that wee lass and someone seems to have given her a cloak and is that her on the right getting a flower put in her hair?

And the cars await the bride and groom to take them to the reception and here are the bride and groom coming down the steps to get to the car

And that's the bridge and groom on their way with thr rest climbing the hill to get to the bus

And so a most interesting wedding and it seems that folk came from all over the world to this wee kirk in St. Monans and I was glad the sun came out for them and wish them every happiness and a long life together.

And it's thanks to the staff at the Green Door Cafe in St. Monans that these pictures made it up to the web site and here are just some of their pictures

And here is Megan Clark

And not sure who this guy is :-)
